What a day! 4 days till race day!!!

Today was great! Opened up the morning with a trip to Lava Java for a big fat latte.  I went early as to miss the masses-Chris, Gabriella and I went down at about 7:45 am and had a nice leisure morning.  We hung out, had some coffee, some breakfast and then took off as the place became busier.  I needed to register and we needed to take Gabriella to the doctor as she has been complaining about her ear; she is already dealing with a sinus infection so we wanted to make sure she wasn’t heading into an ear infection as well.  Both errands went smooth; Gabriella is fine, just a minor irritation and I am all set and registered and am race #116.  Two years ago I was #117…funny.  The best part of the day was Gabriella doing the first anual Dip-n-Dash for the kids.  This was Gabriella’s first “race” and she had a blast.  She swam at the swim start for about 50 yards…(I was there to help her) and then she ran about a 1/4 mile.  IT WAS SO CUTE!!  She ran in her crocs, of course, and had to hold her lolly pop that a friend gave her before the race.  On the way home she would scream “GO GABRIELLA”!! The house is now full, my mom and Rikke Johansen (my chiropractor) came in yesterday and my good friend and training partner Michael Crockett came in today.  Tomorrow morning I will be at the Tri Mag booth in the expo for about an hour.  I am going to get up early and get a good bike and run in before hand and then a little swim afterwards.  I am feeling good; feeling like I am gaining weight like crazy and feeling like I haven’t worked out in weeks-so I would say I am ready to go!!  The week + I have been here has been top notch and I am totally in the aloha spirit.  Until next time.

Let it go,

Gina Kehr

  2. What is it about traveling that lends itself to kid’s ear infections? Oh, I feel for you! Nights are hard when those little ears hurt… and then before such a big race! I think it’s great that you’re taking it all in stride–how many other pros are balancing motherhood? You should get a time BONUS for that! Good luck in the race.
