A solid day at the office but not the epic race that I felt my body was prepared for.  I am happy I was able to at least race post Kona and end the season on a good  note.

I was prepared for everything you can imagine: a top 5 perfromance, a dragging my knuckles to finish performance, but I was not prepared for 4 penalties on the bike resulting in a first time ever DQ in a race.  Please see blogs for more info.

A FABULOUS event, so worth the trip.  A warm swim, an awesome ride through villages and a run like no other.  Definitely on my A list of races.

What started as a cold day turned into a warm 90+ degree day.  Felt stron on bike but surprised by slow split and run was awesome as I negative split it!

2008 RACE RESULTS

Event: UVAS Triathlon, Morgan Hill, CA Date: May 18th, 2008 Results: WINNER In her first race back since giving birth at the end of January, Gina won the Elite field and was pleased with her overall fitness at this point in the year. Click here for the results!

Event: Ford Ironman 70.3 Hawaii, Kohala Coast, HI Date: May 31, 2008 Results: 5th A flat tire at mile 50 and then again kept me down for 20 minutes. But I rode in on my flat and decided I would run as hard as I could for as long as I could.  Having only started training April 1, I was VERY pleased with a 1:30 run split.

Event: Vineman Ironman 70.3, Sonoma County, CA Date: July 20th, 2008 Results: did not start Due to my bike being stolen the night before the race I was not able to compete.

Event: StealHead 70.3 Date: August 2, 2008 Results: WINNER After a whirlwind in getting my bike back and dealing with a glute issue I was fortunate enough to get over to Michigan to race with the fitness I had gained over the past few months.  Great venue. great course.  I hammered the bike and I had a personal best bike split of 2:20!  Thanks GURU!!

Event: Ford Ironman World Championship, Kona, HI Date: October 11, 2008 Results: 9th A hard day at the office I am not going to lie.  It was a lot of work to get 9th place but at the end of the day I am very pleased with how I did.  I had high expectations for myself and I knew trying to compete at this level post baby of 8 months was going to be tough.  But I did my best and I felt I exceeded my fitness level, which is all I could as for.
